Fans of the NBA 2K21 MT show have grown accustomed to picking up their telephone and scrolling through social media when loading into matches or swapping manners, so the faster speeds are a nice treat. While playing the Xbox Series X, I never needed to wait longer than a few seconds to get into a game. Navigating through the MyCareer menu, hitting and immediately being put on the court felt just like magic. Overall, the load rates of the next-gen consoles make 2K21 a better experience. Hardcore players are used to marathoning games, and these snappy load times make everything easier. Even loading into the game's online modes, which have been notoriously slow before.
NBA 2K21's graphics get a facelift in its own next-gen version. The light is better, and the faces look a lot more lifelike. Some of the characters in cutscenes still seem somewhat rough, but the players themselves seem better than ever. So far as mechanics, 2K21 doesn't reinvent the wheel using its next-gen edition. However, the developers used this chance to add some more unique animations into the game. This includes some new animations for alley-oops, that are incredibly satisfying to pull off. I also felt like dribbling and ball movement proved only smoother overall when playing Xbox Series X.
But when coming from high school, players can choose to take the traditional route to the NBA and go to college, or enter the G League. While faculty will provide the players with greater vulnerability and fans, the G League will help them enhance their skills quicker, with increased progress on badges and abilities.
2K21 also fixes one of those frustrating issues I brought up in my review, as players are now able to change the camera angle in high school, faculty, and also the G League. Despite some solid changes and improvements, MyCareer still feels incredibly grindy. VC is hard to find unless you dump a part-time job's worth of hours into the game, or crack open your wallet. Players may now jump in the W, a mode that allows them produce their own WNBA celebrity. It's an awesome slice of representation to a frequently Buy 2K MT ignored basketball team, although the mode is not nearly as fleshed out as 2K21's other center modes.
