RuneScape's PvP component, known by the Duel Arena, will even have stricter rules in place. Jagex claims that the particular feature "has been a catalyst for this savage behavior", and that 38 per with the cent percent of bans for RWT interest to date originate from this aspect of the game. Jagex says the number of bans already amounts up to "heaps of bans that are in line with the month".

In the end, the game's developer seems to be making the null option, stating "we're looking within the long-time period to cut out the Duel Arena out of RuneScape completely." In the meantime the game will implement "a couple of quick-time measures" to make it easier to play PvP "till the time that our development teams are able to provide a replacement that will completely replace the Duel Arena subsequent 12 months."

Jagex states that "a new game that will be an integral part of the ongoing Elder God Wars storyline" will be updated Duel Arena by the beginning of 2022. However, no additional details were provided however.

Although the impact of these changes is still to be seen but they appear to be some of the most effective measures any studio has ever taken to stop outside misuse of its structure for a real-world financial gain.
